New Year, New Goals!

2017 brought us the launch of Terra Firma and we can safely say that all stakeholders are very excited for the New Year and new growth that lies ahead. Creating a platform to truly emphasize the well-being of our clients will continue to be our main objective in 2018.

In the previous blog we introduced a few members from our management team that significantly add value to our brand each and every day. Our main topic of this blog will be to familiarise the reader with the rest of our management team. 

So here we go!

Nigel Lloyd, Currently with a rental portfolio with over 75 properties and 7 years real estate experience, was promoted to rentals manager after just two years in the industry and has been with our principal Jonathan Styles ever since he started. With a common vison in mind, he has received several rewards for best performing rentals agent and has lead his rentals team to the top 3 - top achievers in the Western Cape over the past few years. Evidently our rentals team are expertly trained to handle any clients that need assistance.

Sheena Jonker, heads up the COO/Head of legal position here at Terra Firma. She also founded Access to Justice, an NPO which offers dispute resolution and legal services primarily to vulnerable communities and individuals. Sheena has been instrumental in the creation of the ‘Terra Firma’ brand and always has an excess of knowledge that she brings to our legal department. With a belt full of degrees, she was in practice for over a decade. The past decade she has focused primarily on the development, teaching and practice of alternative methods of dispute resolution and achieving justice.

The Access to Justice cause is well supported by Terra Firma and our agents will be trained and equipped with the tools on how to deal with conflict.

With our strong management team in place, the sky is the limit. 2018 is our year!

Welcome to our second blog!

The end of the calendar year is upon us! Our agents at Terra Firma have been working ever so hard to ensure that all our clients are fully satisfied before they take their well-deserved holidays.

We’ve moved premises from Strand Street to 126 Waterkant Street and we couldn’t be happier. Our agents are motivated and hungry for success like never before. Before we share our proceedings for the weekend, let us tell you a bit about who is behind this powerful brand we call Terra Firma.

Jonathan Styles, if you’re in the property market you are bound to have heard the name. Jonathan is the founder and Principal of Terra Firma and without his vision and ambition to build this brand into a serious market contender, would be impossible. With over  15 years’ experience in the property market, Jonathan has successfully owned many real estate franchises, until he decided he wanted a more inclusive brand that focuses on the full satisfaction of clients in the Cape Town real estate market. We are grateful we have such an optimistic, forward thinking leader in guiding us to living purposeful lives.

Robyn Muller, who was ranked no.1 agent in KZN from 2007-2010, has been hard at work putting her managerial skills to the test from 2012 to this present day and heads up the office management position at Terra Firma. With the same vision as Jonathan, they work in unison to ensure the agents are trained and able to deal with any obstacles in a proper, professional manner. Her high standards of success are what make businesses fully flourish in a competitive real estate market as she has proven in the past.

Next week we will introduce the rest of our management team, Sheena Jonker and Nigel Lloyd.

Formality aside, we welcome and assist any clients in buying, selling and renting homes. Our philosophy goes way past the normality of just buying and selling a home but rather seeks to contend in empowering people to live purpose driven lives.

Terra Firma – Reimagining Realty

TERRA FIRMA REALTY: THE NEW KID ON THE BLOCK

Welcome to our first blog!

TERRA FIRMA REALTY is a new brand in real estate. The new kid on the block is here to stir our imaginations.

JONATHAN STYLES, the founder, has been in real estate for some 15 years and has successfully started and grown various agencies.

Combined with his strong business acumen and his visionary ways, he also has a burning passion to be part of ushering in just conditions in South African Society. I head up Terra Firma’s Legal Division and over the past number of years Jonathan has been a stalwart supporter of my work in the pursuit of Access to Justice for all. I am the founder and current head of Access to Justice an NPO which exists to mobilize legal and dispute resolution resources for vulnerable individuals and communities. I also run ADR Network SA which has trained and developed mediators and arbitrators over the past decade.

So as Jonathan was establishing a new brand in Realty, he felt the time was right to integrate his passion for justice and vision of a more beautiful world and so part of the vision of Terra Firma will be to establish the Terra Firma Access to Justice Foundation.

Some of what we will be doing is:

1.       Every Terra Firma agent will undergo advanced negotiation skills training and will train as certified mediators through ADR Network SA. Underpinned by the philosophy of restorative justice and restorative practice, each agent will be expertly trained in non-adversarial problem-solving methods.

2.       Resources will specifically be allocated to assist marginalized individuals in training to  become estate agents.

3.       Terra Firma will concentrate on ongoing education and training.

4.       As a service to the community in which it operates, each office will be obliged to operate a Terra Firma Access to Justice Foundation Desk which will offer Pro Bono legal and dispute resolution advice on at least one day per week to those who may not be able to pay for those expertise.

5.       In time, TFR also aims to become specifically involved with developers who have a vision and appetite for inclusive housing developments. Our next blog will unpack what this may look like.

We are excited for what lies ahead and whom we may meet along this journey. In week’s to come we will be unpacking interesting and informative topics in Real Estate, Property Law, Negotiation and Access to Justice.
